Furniture Hunting
Over the years many people have asked me how I find the furniture that I repurpose or pieces that I have in my own home. I have a certain style that I’ve always been attracted to, so I always keep my eye out for those type of pieces. I go to garage sales, I travel, and because I have been doing this awhile—some times I will get phone calls from people asking if I’m interested in the furniture that they want to get rid of. A lot of times I’ll just get those things for free!
I’ve always loved repurposing from the time I was a little girl. We were homesteaders in the 50s and back then we had nothing. We had to be very creative with what we had. My dad was the coolest dad in the world— he could make the most amazing creation out of whatever was just laying around inside or outside our house. I contribute a lot of my style to the way that I was brought up.
Remember, you don’t always have to go to garage sales or travel to find some of the most amazing pieces. A lot of times they are right in your own home. All you have to do is go shopping in your own house! Try rearranging things from one room to another… and all of a sudden it can bring new life to it!
