Hi, I’m Sue!
I have been the owner of Artzy Junkin in Soldotna for the past 12 years. Prior to opening a retail business, I worked out of my garage as Designed by Sioux. My main focus has been repurposing furniture. Today, I am an IOD retailer, Salt Wash retailer and DIY (clay based chalk paint) retailer, as well as Modern Masters. Along with selling paints, I have a small area where new customers can test the product before they purchase. I custom paint furniture as well as I have started three clothing lines. Be A Voice , Love Junkin and AK TUFF. Many retail items in the shop are from local and state artist.
Built in 2024 and nestled by the water on Mackey Lake, Artzy Junkin’ Studio fosters creative community and is perfect for hosting private parties, events, and inspiring art classes! Our studio offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for artists and creatives of all levels. I put intentionality into everything from the layout to the atheistic to spark your imagination and provide a peaceful place to create.
Come create or feel free to just spot by for a cup of coffee by the lake.

As you may have noticed, there is a feather on my logo.
Feathers have always been important to me due to my heritage— but they also remind me of my deep faith.
When I started my business about 12 years ago, I really did not know how to get started. I remember sitting in the kitchen at my dining room table and praying and asking God to show me the right way to go. I had never done this before. I asked God in that moment if He could show me a sign. Something that only I would know. I so badly wanted to know that I was going in the right direction. A couple days later I was told about a specific book to look at about starting a business. I opened up to the first chapter and noticed that on top of my head was a feather. I instantly knew that the feather was my sign. From that moment forward and throughout my journey of starting my store, feathers would appear to me everywhere.
I remember one time I had asked God a question. I was at a crossroads with the business and it was winter time. I walked outside and there was a beautiful white downey looking feather on the top of my tire. Now you can’t make this stuff up. Another time I remember laying in bed after not seeing a feather for a while. I asked God if He wanted me to continue going the direction I felt He wanted me to go…and the most incredible thing happened. A feather fell from my ceiling right above me. I was speechless.
Lean forward into your life. Catch the best bits and finest Wood. Just tip your feathers in Flight a wee bit and see how dramatically that small lean can change your life.
